Amy Taub, MD Introduces New Laser Treatment for Aging and Sun-Damaged Skin, Wrinkles and Scarring
Breakthrough Fraxel® II Laser Treatment Resurface and Repairs Wrinkles, Age Spots, Scars and Stretch Marks - Pixel by Pixel, Spot by Spot
Lincolnshire, IL -- January 3, 2007 – Local board-certified dermatologist, Amy Forman Taub, MD of Lincolnshire, IL is one of eleven physicians to first offer the upgraded Fraxel II Laser Treatment (also known as the Fraxel 1500). The Fraxel II is the newest aesthetic solution available to turn back the clock on aging and sun-damaged skin, also improving wrinkles and scarring, providing the benefits of traditional skin resurfacing techniques without significant downtime and risks. This newest generation of non-invasive laser technology resurfaces photodamaged skin, treats periorbital (around the eyes) wrinkles and improves pigmented lesions such as melasma, age spots and sun spots on the face, neck, chest and hands. The Fraxel II improves the original Fraxel® Laser Treatment by advancing the results, minimizing discomfort and risks, and reducing the potential number of treatments needed.
Dr. Taub of Advanced Dermatology reports that the Fraxel II laser is specially designed to create thousands of microscopic thermal spots that form vertical columns of treated skin tissue that are separated and surrounded by unaffected, healthy skin. This innovative approach allows the doctor to treat only a small fraction of skin at a time so it heals much faster than if the entire area were treated at once. Moreover, and in contrast to non-ablative laser/light therapies, Fraxel II creates new epidermal skin in the treatment zones within 24 hours. It advances the prior technology by treating deeper into and denser on the skin resulting in fewer treatments and better results.
"The results so far have been impressive. Treatments with the Fraxel II have by far produced the most dramatic improvement in melasma and acne scarring that we have seen. We have also treated patients with sun damage, surgical or traumatic scars, wrinkles and textural changes, and acne scarring all with exciting results," says Dr. Taub who is the first in the Chicagoland area to own the advanced Fraxel II technology. "Patients have been thrilled with their results thus far and have appreciated the ease of having the Fraxel II done."
Safe and effective, the Fraxel II laser is cleared by the FDA and has undergone extensive testing in the lab and out in the field. Dr. Taub says that based on her clinical expertise, an effective treatment regimen generally requires 3 to 5 treatment sessions spaced about 2 to 4 weeks apart. Results are seen within one treatment session with minimal downtime. No needles or general anesthesia is needed and is tolerated well with topical anesthetic. The procedure is safe to do on all areas of the body with minimal risk of complications or adverse events.
Dr. Taub has been in private practice since 1989. In January 2003, Dr. Taub founded Advanced Dermatology and Skinfo® Specialty Skincare Boutique in Lincolnshire, Illinois. Prior, Dr. Taub founded Skinfo.com, an information based skincare website that soon developed into its retail boutique for physician dispensed and cosmeceutical skincare products. In 2006 she founded SKINQRI, a research institute that works in collaboration with Advanced Dermatology and Skinfo®. Dr. Taub's practice philosophy is one of active collaboration with her patients. While she likes being on the cutting edge of technological and medical innovations, Dr. Taub carefully evaluates the scientific principles and safety of new treatments and procedures she makes available to her patients. Nationally recognized as an educator and thought leader in aesthetic and general dermatology, Dr. Taub is also on faculty at Northwestern University Medical School and leads a monthly clinic teaching cosmetic dermatology and laser treatments, including BOTOX® Cosmetic and Injectable Filler Restylane™, to dermatology residents.
