It’s Great to be Home at Advanced Dermatology

My name is Jessica Benjoya. I initially joined the Advanced Dermatology medical team 7 years ago as a medical assistant, and I am so excited to be returning as a Physician Assistant! I grew up right here in the area and graduated from Stevenson High School before leaving to attend Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. I always knew I wanted a career in the medical field, but was not sure exactly what path I would take. After graduating with a dual bachelor’s degree in Neuropsychology and Mathematics, I moved back to Buffalo Grove and started working as a medical assistant here at Advanced Dermatology. It wasn’t long before I realized I had found my calling. This practice has utilized some of the most talented, well-rounded physician assistants who practice with empathy, intelligence, and skill. Over the next 4 years, I acquired an abundance of medical and cosmetic dermatology knowledge, as well as hands-on patient care experience. I applied to numerous PA programs both in and out of state, and I was actually at work in a room with a patient when I got the alert that I was accepted! It was a joyous, emotional, longawaited moment, and I couldn’t have been happier to share that with my friends, coworkers, and mentors.

When I left Advanced Dermatology in the summer of 2016, it was bittersweet because I truly loved my job and the relationships I had made, but I knew I was moving forward with my career and hoped I would be back one day. I spent almost 3 years in Columbus, Ohio while attending Ohio Dominican University, and graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. I have now moved back home and am thrilled to be back at Advanced Dermatology as a medical provider. My background in medical and cosmetic dermatology laid the groundwork for my passion to pursue a career focused on patient-centered care. I look forward to providing you with exceptional care!
