"Parents beware—Badger, a leading children’s brand of organic sunscreens, has issued a level two recall for certain lot codes of two of their products this week after discovering items could be contaminated with potentially harmful bacteria.

According to a press release from W.S. Badger Company Inc. Tuesday, 30,000 tubes of their natural sunscreens are being voluntarily recalled after traces of bacteria and fungi were found in products by the manufacturer. The two items included in the recall: Badger SPF 30 Baby Sunscreen Lotion 4oz and Badgers SPF 30 Baby Sunscreen Lotion 4oz.

Following the recall, the CEO of the New Hampshire-based company, Bill Whyte, issued a public apology on the company's official website Tuesday. “We Badgers put great effort into making exceptional products and I'm so sorry that we fell short on this one,” he said, explaining the recall stemmed from a toxicologist's discovery of unharmful, yet potentially dangerous “organisms” within the products. “They are unlikely to cause problems except for in immune-compromised persons or for persons with severely damaged skin,” said Whyte, adding, “I'm very sorry this happened and we will do everything in our power to see that this never happens again” Read More.
