Liquid Facelift

A traditional facelift is expensive and requires weeks of downtime. Advanced Dermatology offers a nonsurgical alternative, the liquid facelift.

During this procedure, our medical providers inject different liquid fillers into the upper cheeks, jowls, or other facial areas. The choice of filler Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, or Belotero depends on the facial area and each filler requires a separate syringe. You will look younger immediately, rather than weeks after the procedure, because the fillers quickly improve facial volume, smooth out wrinkles, and create the illusion of a lift.

Dr. Taub’s expertise and artistry with fillers are no accident. While perfecting her technique, she injected at least six syringes of filler into the faces of 10 women and then photographed their faces before and after injection. Then she asked each patient and three cosmetic dermatologists to estimate the age of each patient before and after the injections. The women thought they looked 7 to 9 years younger after the procedure and the dermatologists thought they looked 6 to 8 years younger. These results showed that Dr. Taub’s technique was effective. Dr. Taub’s study was published in Dermatologic Surgery, a medical journal read by dermatologists all over the world.

How do I know if I need the liquid facelift?

If you would like a facelift but cannot afford the downtime or do not want plastic surgery, you may consider the liquid facelift. Improvements are immediate and side effects are minimal.

People who take Coumadin or have a fear of needles should not have a liquid facelift. This will be discussed during your initial consultation.

How does the liquid facelift work?

During this procedure, our medical providers inject different liquid fillers into the upper cheeks, jowls, or other facial areas.

Discomfort is minimized by anesthetic in the filler.  A stream of cold air is also directed at the target area during treatment to maximize comfort.  To further reduce bruising and discomfort your provider may use cannulas during the procedure.

 What benefits can I expect?

You will look younger immediately, rather than weeks after the procedure because the fillers quickly improve facial volume, smooth out wrinkles, and create the illusion of a lift.

How do I prepare for the procedure?

Discontinue blood thinning medications such as aspirin and vitamin E for 7 to 10 days before the procedure. This will minimize bruising. Oral and topical arnica for a few days may also help.

What are the risks and side effects?

Side effects are mainly swelling and bruising after the injection.  These can be treated with ice packs and, if necessary, laser treatment.

Prior to treatment all potential risks and side effects will be discussed with you by your medical provider and cosmetic coordinator.

How will I look and feel during and after the treatment?

The treated area may be bruised and swollen for 1 week or, in rare cases, 2 weeks. We suggest using ice packs regularly after treatment.  Laser treatments are also available to reduce bruising.

Are there other ways to get the same benefit?

Yes. Advanced Dermatology offers Profound, which improves volume and lifts.

Can this be combined with other treatments?

Yes. For example, botulinum toxins may be injected during your visit for filler injection.

Botulinum toxin helps to correct the upper one-third of your face while fillers help with the lower two-thirds. This combination is widely used because it provides considerable aesthetic improvement in only 1 to 2 weeks. If filler injection is combined with high-intensity laser treatment, we must wait 1 month after filler infection to use the laser to prevent overheating the filler-treated area.

What is the cost of the procedure?

The cost depends on the number and types of fillers used in the procedure. Your provider will tell you about discounts for packages of fillers.
