Nose Enlargement (Rhinophyma)

Rhinophyma is enlargement of the soft tissues of the nose.  People sometimes get the wring impression that the person suffering from rhinophyma is an alcoholic or heavy drinker.  Whereas alcholic beverages can make rosacea of any kind worse, most people with this condition simply have this as a result of the chronic inflammation from rosacea.  On the nose this can cause problems with local lymphatic drainage, somehow leading to stimulation of the soft tissue to grow.  Prevention may be accomplished with oral antibiotics and treatment can be accomplished with lasers, particularly CO2 fractional resurfacing lasers (CO2RE).
