Pre-wedding cosmetic treatments

Many patients come to our practice before a big event so they can look their best, and there is no bigger event in one’s life than a wedding. Most often, patients want to know what treatments can make them look their absolute best without looking unnatural. They want to feel confident in photos that will carry on through generations. Since we specialize in non-invasive treatments, we pride ourselves in keeping you looking as natural as possible. Some of our most popular treatments do take a few months to see the results, so it is best to come in for a consultation as soon as possible so we can put together a treatment plan that can fit your timeline. Here are some of the most popular pre-wedding treatments to start considering when you know the date of the big day.

6 – 12 months before event:

Sagging Skin and Jowls: A common concern patients come to us with is the sagging skin that enhances the jowl line. If a facelift is not in your future, a great noninvasive treatment is Ultherapy®. Using ultrasound technology, this treatment is the most advanced and up to date treatment for facial skin tightening and lifting. There is no downtime with this treatment but it does take 6 months to a year to see the results, so plan accordingly to the date of your event.

4-5 months before event:

Body Shaping: Coolsculping® is a great way to help shed that pouch that you’ve never been able to fix through diet and exercise. This no downtime treatment freezes and then eliminates fat cells to help contour your body. We typically recommend two treatments in the area you are concerned with, and it can take up to three months to see full results. Start planning this at least five months prior to the big day.
2-3 months before event:

Sun damage and texture: We hear patients tell us all the time that all the years they spent in the sun during their youth is now catching up with them. Pesky brown spots and uneven texture can now be taken care of with the Fraxel® Dual treatment. This treatment targets brown pigmentation and fine lines, large pores and helps smooth the skin. We can do this treatment on almost any part of the body, but if you plan on treating the face, expect 3-4 days of redness and peeling. It takes up to a month to see full results and some patients may require 2 treatments. Make sure you have this treatment when you plan on not being tan. We recommend having this treatment 2-3 months prior to the big day.

1-2 months before event:

Frown lines and lines around the nose: Many of our patients want to smooth out the forehead lines and the line in between their eyes that they refer to as their “frown lines.” The medical term for that line in between the eyes is called the glabella. It is one of the strongest muscles in your face, and years of expression can cause that line to appear even when you aren’t making any movement. To help smooth that out, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick fix. This no downtime, effective treatment works by relaxing the muscles in those areas to smooth the lines. It takes about two weeks to kick in so you would want to have this treatment at least one month prior. It only last 3-4 months, so doing it sooner than may require an additional treatment.
Another concern that is common is the deep lines that patients get around the nose area. Instead of just filling that line in with fillers, we find that placing an injectable in the cheek to replace the volume loss can help restore the facial structure and the patient may not need as much filler in the lines around the nose. Filler in the cheek area can last up to two years. There can be some bruising with injectables, so plan to have this treatment at least 1-2 months prior to your event.

1-2 weeks prior to the event

Skin Rejuvenation: Before a big event, we recommend coming in to have a Diamond Glow facial. Microdermabrasion is a way of gently removing the stratum corneum, which is the dead outer protective layer of the skin. It provides a bit of a barrier to the sun and anything that comes into contact with the skin, but it also gets in the way of absorption of beneficial products as well as skin turnover to promote skin metabolism. Hydrodermabrasion uses water in conjunction with a diamond tip to gently exfoliate the skin. It is adjustable from extremely light to very aggressive so that we can tailor the treatment to the individual and their goals. This allows us to simultaneously infuse products that can hydrate, lighten, tighten pores, and reduce acne or fortify so that the procedure is really 2 in one.

With any treatment, there can be unexpected side effects, so we advise not waiting until the very last minute to have treatment. Creating a treatment plan based on your needs is our specialty, and we look forward to making you look and feel your best.
