Emface®, A Revolutionary Facial Treatment

Candidates for Emface® include anyone with signs of aging on the face. Signs of aging include droopiness of the brow, cheeks, and jowls. Candidates who are interested in smoother skin and a lifted appearance without surgery may benefit from Emface®. Emface® applicators are designed primarily for the forehead and cheeks.

Emface® and Botox® are two different treatment approaches for fine lines and wrinkles. Botox® involves injections to specific muscles. These injections temporarily paralyze them to reduce wrinkles from facial expressions. Botox® effects are temporary and require periodic injections.

Emface® targets a wider range of skin concerns. Emface® is also non-invasive and results typically last longer when it comes to fine lines, wrinkles, and muscle growth. Patients should consult with a cosmetic professional to understand the nuances between these two treatments and which will best address their concerns.

Emface® treatment can produce a few potential side effects including:

1. Discomfort: The treatment does not require anesthesia. During the application, you will feel muscle contractions and a heating sensation in the treated area. It is important to note that you should feel comfortable heat, but never feel an unpleasant burning or pain sensation during the treatment. Please ask your provider to re-adjust the intensity should you feel any pain or discomfort.
2. Redness and Swelling: You may experience a slight warm sensation for up to an hour post-treatment. Redness and swelling will vary depending on the sensitivity of your skin. Redness and swelling generally resolve in 1-2 days but can last longer.
3. Skin Wound, Infection, or Scarring: An open or closed skin wound may occur. Any unexpected wound, pain, redness, or pus should be reported to your treatment provider promptly and may need additional treatment. Skin wounds may lead to permanent scarring, even if treated. Infection is possible with inflammation, heating, or opening of the skin. Infections may lead to permanent scarring, even if treated.
4. Hypopigmentation and Hyperpigmentation: Changes in the pigmentation (too little or too much) of the skin may occur after treatment. Any change in color of the skin that is not expected should be reported to your treatment provider and may need additional treatment. Pigmentation changes may become permanent, even with additional treatment.
5. Muscle Pain and Spasms: You may experience temporary muscle pain, tenderness/soreness, or muscle spasms after treatment. This is typically temporary and resolves within a few hours to days.
6. Allergic Reaction: It is possible that an allergic reaction to an anesthetic, topical cream, adhesive, or oral medication can occur.

Emface® treatments are straightforward and require no preparation. During the treatment, you will lay down while the applicators are placed on your face for 20 minutes. You may experience muscle contractions and a heating sensation similar to a hot stone massage.

Providers typically recommend four total Emface® treatment sessions with 5-10 days between each session. Emface® is non-invasive, so there is no recovery or downtime. Emface® can be combined with other treatments as long as they are scheduled for different days.
