What is Photorejuvenation?
Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive, cosmetic treatment in which lasers are directed onto the skin of the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, legs, or back. It works by penetrating the dermal layers of the skin. The light of the laser turns to heat when it hits certain colors, colors that include hyperpigmentation and redness.
What to Expect from Photorejuvenation Treatment
Typically, brown spots will appear slightly darker after treatment, or may even scab over, whereas red blood vessels usually become lighter and smaller. Within a few days, both red and brown skin concerns will begin to fade before eventually disappearing.

Photorejuvenation Treatment Options
At Advanced Dermatology, we offer six different photorejuvenation technologies. Each device has its own unique advantages, so we are able to tailor your treatment to your exact needs. 1. DermaV™
The DermaV™ laser is a pigmented lesion treatment platform utilizing a 532 nanometer (nm) wavelength. It targets visible blood vessels and brown discoloration to improve overall skin tone, texture, and clarity. It also offers high- and low-fluence modes, which allows providers to safely target smaller and more delicate areas of the face.
Why it stands out: Unlike older lasers which treated either red or brown concerns separately, DermaV™ is able to treat both with precision and flexibility.
2. Spectra™
Spectra™ is one of the most adaptable laser treatments available. This advanced platform is used for skin rejuvenation, pigmentation concerns, and even tattoo removal. It can safely be used on many areas of the body, and is suitable for a wide range of skin types.
Why it stands out: Spectra™ delivers ultra-short pulses of energy which minimize thermal damage to the surrounding tissue, resulting in faster recovery times.
3. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Photofacials
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy has wide-ranging uses. It can reduce redness, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, uneven skin tones, and pore size on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, legs, and back. IPL is often known as a “photofacial” because its rejuvenating effects makes the skin look particularly photo-ready.
Why it stands out: IPL can be combined with radiofrequency (RF) to monitor the temperature of the skin during treatment. This leads to more consistent results as well as the formation of new collagen.
4. VBeam
Often called a “vascular” laser, VBeam is primarily used to target hemoglobin, the red protein in blood cells and vessels. Hemoglobin is responsible for skin redness, and when targeted by VBeam, it is destroyed and reabsorbed into the body.
Why it stands out: VBeam specifically targets redness concerns, including rosacea, port-wine stains, acne scars, broken blood vessels, and general skin redness.
5. Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) With Levulan
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) specifically targets damaged skin cells while minimizing the harm to surrounding healthy tissue. Levulan is a prescription solution that is often used in combination with PDT. Your provider will apply Levulan to your skin before the treatment to make the target areas more sensitive to the PDT light.

6. Genesis™
The Genesis™ laser is used to treat redness, pore size, small scars, and uneven coloring. It works by gently heating the skin with laser energy, leading to a glowing complexion post-treatment. Genesis™ is often called the “laser facial”.
Why it stands out: Genesis is particularly suited to correcting brown spots and hyperpigmentation, especially in dark-skinned patients.
