Acne
Acne is a condition affecting more than 17 million people. 85% of 12-24 year-olds, 8% of 25-34-year-olds and 3% of 35-44-year-olds have acne . It consists of unsightly red pimples, white and blackheads and occasionally painful cysts of the face, back and chest. Besides discomfort, acne can cause decreased self-esteem and permanent scarring.

Aging Skin
The appearance of aging skin consists of wrinkles, brown and red discoloration (photodamage), laxity and loss of muscle tone. Also associated with the appearance of the aging face is the lengthening of the upper lip, loss of volume in the mid-cheek, at the temple and in the chin, and a downturn of angle of the lips at the corner.

Cellulite
Cellulite consists of dimpling and unevenness of the skin surface especially on the thighs, buttocks and sometimes abdomen and arms. It is not a disease as it affects about 85% of all women. It is often referred to as “cottage cheese” due to the lumpy quality of the surface of the skin.

eczema
Atopic dermatitis is the classic form of eczema. This usually starts in early childhood and is believed to be caused by genetic factors that makes the skin dryer, more sensitive to things like wool, soap and sweat than normal and release inflammatory chemicals into the skin which cause itching. Other types of eczema may be caused by irritation from frequent washing, irritating chemicals, or excessive sweat or friction whereas allergic eczema may be caused by contact with metals, fragrances, rubber or preservatives. There are many other types of dermatitis. Dermatitis usually causes red, itchy and scaly patches. Treatment usually involved creams containing cortisone, avoidance of allergens or irritants and use of moisturizers and fragrance-free cleansers.

Melasma
Melasma is a skin condition that occurs on the face in the form of brown patches. A change in hormonal status (higher levels of estrogen) is thought to trigger and be the cause of the condition (i.e. birth control pills, pregnancy), although many women without these risk factors also develop melasma.

Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition affecting about 6 million people in the United States. Small or large round or oval red patches with thick white scales characterize it. These are sometimes itchy, occasionally hurt or bleed, or can be asymptomatic, except for the annoyance of shedding flakes of skin. The most common locations are elbows, knees and scalp, but it can occur on any part of the body. 5% of people with psoriasis also have arthritis. The onset of psoriasis can occur at any age including childhood and old age, although it most commonly appears in the teens-twenties. Sunlight tends to make it better for reasons explained below, whereas alcohol ingestion, lack of sunlight and stress tend to exacerbate it.

Rosacea
Rosacea is a disorder of the skin affecting 13 million people in the United States. The symptoms associated with rosacea may include flushing, blushing, burning, hot or itchy sensation of the face and occasionally swelling. Eye symptoms can include a sensation of something in the eye, dryness, itching, blurred vision or sensitivity to light. Some people have no symptoms.

Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is a growing concern and widespread condition in the United States and elsewhere. In the US there are over 1 million people diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and 50,000 people diagnosed with melanoma every year. With early detection and treatment the vast majority of skin cancers are curable with surgery alone. It is believed that practicing judicial sun avoidance and sun protection over one’s lifetime can prevent many skin cancers.

Spider or Varicose veins
Millions of women and many men suffer from spider or varicose veins. Spider veins are small unsightly red or purple vessels on the surface of the thighs or calves. Varicose veins are large ropy blue vessels that often bulge off the surface of the skin and sometimes cause an aching or burning sensation. These can remain merely a cosmetic problem or can progress to cause leg discoloration, swelling and ulceration or predispose to blood clots (deep venous thrombosis).

BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® Cosmetic injections have become an essential ingredient in facial wellness, erasing frown lines and relaxing worried brows. BOTOX® Cosmetic is safe and effective and has been approved for cosmetic use by the FDA. BOTOX® Cosmetic has become the most commonly performed cosmetic procedure, with over 1 million injections performed in 2005. The QuadraLASE™ (produced by Candela) Fractional Laser Resurfacing removes layers of skin tissue in a fractionated method (by leaving surrounding tissue intact) to help reduce the components of sun-damaged skin such as “age-spots” (also called sun freckles, liver spots, and lentigines), fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, uneven coloration, skin laxity, textural irregularities, dull tone, and a thinned collagen layer of the face, neck, and chest.

Dysport™
Dysport™ is the new alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic that smoothes away lines and wrinkles on the face that occur from dynamic muscle contraction. Recently approved by the FDA in April 2009, Dysport™ has been used safely for years in Europe (under the name Reloxin) for aesthetic and medical purposes. Dysport™ relaxes the facial muscles that can cause wrinkles in the brow, forehead and around the eyes that can make one look worried, appear angry or tired. Laser Leg Vein Treatments

Matrix IR™ Laser Wrinkle Reduction
Laser and radiofrequency energy can be used to heat up the deeper layers of the skin while protecting the surface skin. This heating activates fibroblasts signaling collagen to remodel and form new collagen cells, resulting in reduction of the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, perioral wrinkles, crow's feet, forehead lines, and scars. The Matrix IR™ by Syneron™ combines fractionated 915nm diode laser and bipolar radiofrequency for a non-ablative treatment reducing facial wrinkles and scars. Because the energy is fractionated, more intense light energy can be delivered into microscopic zones leaving untreated skin around these zones that assist in healing and collagen remodeling allowing for more effective treatments

Pearl Erbium Laser Peels
A series of treatments with the Pearl Erbium: YSGG, typically 1-3 treatments, will greatly reduce the appearance of uneven pigmentation and superficial texture of the face, neck, and chest. The epidermis on the face has an average thickness of 110 microns. Depending on the treatment settings, the Pearl Erbium: YSGG will ablate 10-30 microns of the epidermis and coagulate from 20-60 microns each treatment with residual heat going into the dermis. The Pearl can be used alone or to increase the results of traditional Photorejuvenation, Photodynamic Therapy, and Fraxel SR1200 Laser Treatments. This may be ideal for patients who do not have the time to commit to a series of Photorejuvenation treatments and can tolerate extended downtime, typically 3-7 days.

Photodynamic Therapy

Maintenance treatments need to be performed monthly to retain the effect. Many devices have been marketed in the past for the reduction of cellulite yet most have not lasted due to the lack of reproducible results and maintainable results.
