Dr. Taub’s Summer 2013 Letter

Dear patients, friends and colleagues,

I hope that you are enjoying your summer by taking long walks, riding your bicycle, going to baseball games and most importantly remembering to reapply your sunscreen.

Construction on the Glencoe office is well underway, the walls have gone up and the new practice and boutique are starting to take shape! There were some early structural issues with the floor that required repair that put us a bit behind schedule, so we have had to move back the opening date to September, probably after Labor Day. We will let you know as soon as we have a confirmed date.

We had a very fun and successful Third Annual Skin for Life event, raising over $14,000 for the Skin Cancer Foundation. The fashions and the crowd buzz were wonderful. The event was featured in Splash which is part of the Chicago Sun-Times and Pioneer Press. Our emcee, Susanna Negovan, the Editor of Splash, was as big a hit as she was last year! We dedicated the evening to Bonnie Sand, a patient of ours who passed away last year and had a lifetime of fighting against cancers, both skin, lung, breast and lymphoma. We were honored to have her husband and family attend the festivities.

By the time you receive this newsletter, I will have just gotten back from the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Dermatology Multi-Specialty Aesthetic Conference, where I spoke on my experiences with radio frequency devices and advanced concepts in skincare. I have not been to this meeting in the past (as this is written before you receive the newsletter), but I hear it is a very creative and inspiring conference. At these meetings, I like to share ideas with Plastic Surgeons, Facial Plastics and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons as well as my dermatologic colleagues. Michelle Mivelli, Director of Practice Management, and Grace Federighi, Marketing Manager, are attending as well. We are confident that we will learn new ways to make your experiences at Advanced Dermatology and skinfo® even better.

In this issue, we cover several topics on summer skin care. As much as we all like the freedom of the warmer weather and the way the sun makes us feel, certain preparations should be made for those who suffer from rosacea and acne breakouts, as well as those susceptible to sunburns or with a history of skin cancer.

We are having some incredible specials in July for body shaping that includes a combination of Thermage® and CoolsculptingTM by ZeltiqTM, both are procedures that have no downtime and no need for staying out of the sun. Mark your calendars for the third week in August for our quarterly Cosmetic and Laser Week, as well as September for Client Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to read through all of the specials so you can take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to save on treatments you have been waiting to experience.
