Eye Treatments

Now that face masks are commonplace to protect against the spread of COVID-19, there is a renewed focus on rejuvenating the eye area. There are a multitude of procedures that can be performed to improve the periocular region.

Neuromodulators, such as BOTOX®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau®, are used to improve crow’s feet, or wrinkles that occur when we smile. The injections are relatively painless and quick, and results are seen approximately two weeks later. With continued injections, the wrinkles that are etched in will
soften over time as well. Fillers, such as Restylane®, JUVÉDERM™, Sculptra®, can be used to improve volume loss in the temples. This volume loss can be very aging. A youthful temple should have a subtle concavity. Thin temples are seen in those who are naturally thin, exercise frequently, or clench their teeth at night. When we inject the temples, there is a secondary benefit of lifting the tail of the eyebrow.

Fillers can also be injected under the eye and on the superior portion of the cheek to improve volume loss and dark circles. For patients who have thin and/or fair skin with prominent veins under the eyes or in the temple region, the Nd:YAG laser can efficiently resolve these. Patients are usually extremely gratified as one, they did not know these veins can be treated, and two, the results are often noticeable within weeks. Lastly, resurfacing lasers such as Fraxel® or CO2 are used to improve wrinkles that are etched into the skin. The CO2 laser also helps to tighten the skin around the eye as well. CO2 can do wonders for improving the overall texture, wrinkles, and laxity around the eyes. We hope to see you soon for eye rejuvenation!
