Are you wondering how to lose stubborn fat that just will not go away despite hard work with diet and exercise? As effective as these methods are, they burn body fat in a pattern that is dependent on age, sex genetics and hormones. In order to lose fat in a specific area of concern, a person must reduce overall body fat first, making it very difficult to lose fat in a specific area quickly. Luckily, technology available at Advanced Dermatology allows you to treat problem areas with faster, more localized results.

CoolSculpting® by ZELTIQ®, an alternative to liposuction, uses cooling to reduce pockets of fat in the abdomen, love handles, arms, inner thighs, and back. The newest device from ZELTIQ®, CoolMini, uses this same technology to freeze fat in a double chin. The device reduces fat by sucking the area of concern into a vacuum applicator to freeze the fat while protecting the skin. This freezes the fat and not the skin because the fat freezes at a higher temperature than the skin. About 20% of the fat cells freeze and are reabsorbed by the body with each treatment. During the treatment, you may feel discomfort in the treated area and your skin may itch or be sensitive to touch for a few weeks following the procedure. Bruising or discoloration may also occur temporarily. Most patients begin to notice an improvement in 8 to 16 weeks and we recommend at least 2 treatments per area for best results. We also are one of the few practices that have the ZWave treatment which improves results from each treatment and reduces side effects!

Advanced Dermatology also offers Thermage®, a device that uses light and radiofrequency to activate new collagen to form and existing collagen to tighten. This process gives the skin a more youthful, tightened and wrinkle free appearance. Thermage® is used to lift lax abdominal skin, upper arm skin, buttocks and thighs. One to two treatments may be needed and results may take up to 6 months to be appreciated since the treatment is promoting new collagen formation. Thermage® also works well on cellulite. You may experience discomfort during the treatment, and redness to the area may persist for a few hours. Swelling can occur and last for a few days but is typically minimal.

Velashape™ combines radiofrequency, energy, light, vacuum and mechanical rollers to treat the buttocks, hips, upper arms, saddle bags, and parts of the thighs.
The device is FDA cleared to reduce the circumference of these area and to improve the appearance of cellulite. The device heats fat so that fat can be eliminated naturally by the body. The vacuum pulls up the skin and the rollers knead the area to facilitate the process. The result is a smaller circumference and smoother skin the treated area. The treated area may be pink and warm for a short time after the treatment. Bruising may also occur.

Cellulite is a common concern for many people, and the TriPollar™ Apollo® is an FDA cleared radiofrequency device that tightens loose body fat, improving the appearance of cellulite, and enhances your overall body contour. Radiofrequency energy works by gently heating your lower skin layers. Collagen, the long-stranded protein responsible for skin firmness, is located in the lower layers of skin, and radiofrequency pulls these strands closer together to tighten and firm while reducing cellulite.

At Advanced Dermatology we offer many different technologies to achieve body contouring and tightening. Each of these devices has their niches. We can address wrinkles and sagging above the knee, loose skin on the abdomen, cellulite, the postpartum belly and more. In addition, all of these tightening procedures have minimal to no downtime and you can return to your daily activities immediate.
