Most Common Questions: CoolSculpting®

Do you offer CoolSculpting®?

Advanced Dermatology has offered CoolSculpting® since 2010. In fact, our office was one of the first in the Chicagoland area to offer the technology. We offer the newest technology available and are one of the top CoolSculpting® providers in the nation.

Does it hurt?

As the name suggests, the CoolSculpting® procedure can be a little chilly. Controlled cooling is delivered through an applicator to freeze the targeted fat. Though you may feel intense cold initially, this feeling usually subsides within 5 to 10 minutes as the area numbs. Because most applicators use a vacuum to draw fatty tissue into the applicator cup, you may also feel some pulling, tugging, and/or mild pinching.

Does it work?

Fat cells that are frozen during the CoolSculpting® procedure gradually die off and leave the body through the body’s natural elimination process. That’s why the results are long-term. The fat is gone for good! Untreated areas will have no change in fat cell distribution. CoolSculpting® is not for everyone and is not a weight loss treatment.

Where does the fat go? Is it permanent?

The human body contains the same amount of fat cells throughout it’s lifespan. Fat cells expand and contract as an individual gains and loses weight. CoolSculpting® allows us to permanently destroy fat cells. Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), they go through a process called apoptosis (cell death) and are naturally processed and eliminated from the body over a period of 6-12 weeks. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

How much does it cost?

The price for the CoolSculpting® procedure varies depending on areas of concern, number of treatments needed, and your ultimate goals. Most patients opt to receive treatments in multiple body areas (treatment to transformation) in order to achieve their goals. The cost typically ranges between $2000-$6000 which may include more than one visit and multiple body areas in order to achieve the desired completed optimal effect.

During your personalized consultation a customized treatment plan is tailored to your body, desired results, and budget. Advanced Dermatology also accepts Care Credit, which offers flexible, no interest payment plans to help patients achieve their goals.
