Dermaplaning Can Help Shed Winter Skin

One of the aesthetic procedures that many clients may not know Advanced Dermatology offers is dermaplaning. Although dermaplaning sounds similar to dermabrasion they are different. Dermaplaning is a quick and simple procedure with no downtime that exfoliates the top layer of the skin with a surgical blade. In addition to removing the outermost dead skin layer dermaplaning also removes the vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz, leaving behind nothing but healthy and smooth skin.

Despite popular belief, your hair will not grow back thicker or darker, but will continue to grow back at the normal rate of growth and same texture. Another major benefit of removing the dead skin buildup is that your skin will allow product to better penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. This treatment is only recommended for the face, and does not include nose, neck, or décolleté. In addition, this treatment is safe for all skin types but should not be performed on individuals with an allergy to nickel, those with numerous raised lesions on the skin or with inflamed acne. Dermaplaning does not have any downtime and you can immediately return to work or activities.
At Advanced Dermatology we recommend getting a dermaplaning treatment every 4-6 weeks or as needed and the cost starts at $80. You can also add on a chemical peel or Silk Peel treatment to enhance your results, for an additional fee.  Read more here.
